Why Are Treatment Programs for Women Necessary?
Traditional addiction treatment programs have not always catered to women’s unique needs and experiences. For example, women are more likely to experience trauma and abuse, which can lead to addiction. It’s only natural to self-medicate in response to such difficult circumstances but substance use only worsens a person’s health.
At Revelare Recovery, we acknowledge the importance of recognizing and addressing women’s experiences in our women’s behavioral health programs, which include:
- Partial hospitalization program (PHP)
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
- Transitional living program
- Co-occurring disorder program
Our Behavioral Health Programs for Women at Revelare Recovery
At Revelare Recovery, we offer a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program for women that address co-occurring diagnoses of an ED alongside a secondary SUD or another mental health condition. For most of our clients, a treatment program consists of phase 1 in the PHP setting and phase 2 in the IOP setting, each lasting for 30 days. During the PHP phase, clients are introduced to the treatment approach, educated about the disorders, and learn Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-based treatment components such as mindfulness, cognitive defusion, values exploration, and committed action. Family involvement is also emphasized in the PHP phase through Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) sessions. In the IOP phase, clients focus on relapse prevention, consolidation of skills learned, and integration of those skills into daily life.
We also connect clients to supportive housing outside the Atlanta market. The supportive environment and the inclusion of family in the treatment plan are examples of our women’s behavioral health programs that make us stand out in the treatment industry.
What to Expect from Our Behavioral Health Treatment Programs in Atlanta, GA
Our program utilizes ACT as its primary treatment modality, which emphasizes accepting complex thoughts and emotions and promoting commitment to taking action toward one’s values and goals. We integrate other evidence-based behavioral therapies into our treatment plan, such as:
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – A treatment that focuses on both acceptance and change.
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – An approach to understanding how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) – A method of helping clients to find their internal motivation for recovery.
At Revelare Recovery, we strive to provide clients with a holistic approach while emphasizing physical and emotional safety. We work together as a team, which includes the client, their family members, and our multidisciplinary treatment staff. Our behavioral health treatment programs for women also provide educational classes for clients and their families, including nutrition education, body image and self-esteem workshops, and medication management.
